How to find Steam curators for your game

Start from three to five Steam games close to yours and list the curators who posted about them in the last few months. Then drop the ones with reseller signs and the ones that stopped posting. I track 1,179 Steam curators with 200 or more followers. 83% of them posted in the last 90 days, and 17% show three or more points of warning signs for key reselling. In the last 30 days of data, at least half the games curators covered got a post from just one curator without several signs.

Why comparable games beat follower counts

Curator Connect in Steamworks lists curators by follower count and lets you filter by tag and language. Followers can be bought: among the 712 curators I read with 1,000 or more followers, 251 (35%) have fewer than 30% of their followers rated "high value" by Steam, where the middle of the pack is 57%. A curator who covered three games like yours in the last few months is a better bet than one with a big number and no overlap.

Steps

  1. Pick comparison games. Three to five games with your genre, scope and price, released in the last two years. Big hits pull in every curator; pick ones closer to your size.
  2. List who covered them. Each game's Steam store page shows curator reviews, but only a few at a time. The search here does it for several games at once and ranks curators by how many of your games they covered, how recently, and how active they are.
  3. Drop the inactive ones. A curator with nothing in 90 days won't review yours. The median active curator I track posted 10 times in the last 90 days.
  4. Drop the ones with reseller signs. Low-value followers, same-day posting with other pages, floods of one-line reviews. How to spot them.
  5. Send through Curator Connect. Twenty to forty matched curators, two to three weeks before launch or Next Fest. Sending keys covers the note, the timing and the follow-up.

Curators per genre

Curators I read with at least two posts carrying each Steam tag, and the share of them with several warning signs.

All genres

What to expect

Developers have logged 0 keys here. A post rate needs 10 decided keys; as 30-day outcomes come in, the rate shows here and on each curator's page. Developers who send keys to curators chosen by follower count report few reviews; one sent 77 keys and got one review after two weeks (itch.io).

Limits

I read the latest 100 posts of each curator with 200 or more followers, out of 4,637 in Steam's directory. Curators under 200 followers and posts older than a curator's latest 100 are not in the data. Warning signs are fixed rules, not proof; read a few of a curator's reviews before you decide.

The search is free for the top 5 curators per search, by name. The full list and a CSV are $12, paid once.
